AN INITIAL STUDY OF IMPERATA CYLINDRICA LEAVES POTENTIAL AS HERBAL MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS

Objective: In traditional medicines, Imperata cylindrica (hereinafter referred to as I. cylindrica) roots are more frequently used than its leaves. The aim of this study was determine three parameters, namely the content total phenolic compounds, flavonoid content, and antioxidant activity leaves extracts. Then, root extract parameters were a comparison evaluate benefits herbal medicine.
 Methods: polyphenol measured by using Folin-Ciocalteu method aluminium chloride due measure 1,1-diphenyl-method 2-pikrilhidrazil (DPPH) method. All methods visible spectrophotometry.
 Results: percentages IC50 8.1 % (GAE), 2.1% (QE) 80 ppm, respectively. measurement results showed 1.13% 0.28% 368 respectively.
 Conclusion: result that contained compounds flavonoids had activity. activity, have been shown effects on health. Therefore, potential utilization medicine can be promoted widely.
